Creator's Corner: How to Work (and Play) Well With "The Others" to Succeed

NOTE: Creator's Corner is now being published on Wordpress, so you can access and read all of the columns (past and future) easily at one location. Click Here.

I ATTENDED A GRADUATE SCHOOL WHERE ARTS & BUSINESS STUDENTS WERE BROUGHT TOGETHER--on purpose--to propose, create and apply communications technology solutions as a team to problems. As graduate students of the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), we were encouraged to face our distrust of "the others'" approaches to problem-solving (creative arts vs. business) and collaborate in playful and experimental ways to meet the needs of individuals, groups; local, national, and global communities--artistic, nonprofit and commercial--who we were learning to serve as a workforce. Otherwise, we could not succeed in our studies, projects, or current and future employment.

How Can I Trust You?

WE HAD TO FIND WAYS TO KEEP AN OPEN MIND, TRUST, AND SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER (even if one's primary incentive might only be to get a good grade). Sometimes trusting simply meant investing in the belief that we would do whatever we could to help each other succeed for the sake of that project. Those who couldn't or wouldn't commit, who gave up, failed: they either left the program or flunked out. For those of us who did commit, paths always eventually opened, and some of those solutions we accomplished together were simply astounding. Those collaborations and solutions led to our Information Age and what's coming beyond it.

NOTE: The Interactive Telecommunications Masters Program in Tisch School of the Arts at New York University is going strong. Check out some of the pioneering and innovative courses.

How Not To Give Up Before The Miracle Happens

I READ SOME LITERATURE TODAY TO HELP INSPIRE AND MOTIVATE ME NOT TO GIVE UP in areas that I want and need to change in my life (personal and professional). I get tired and discouraged at times. I can't afford "keeping up appearances" (like Hyacinth, the character in the British BBC program) because I've learned the hard way that doing so is incredibly stressful and hurts my health. One quote I read is from an article (AKIRA KUROSAWA: The Note Taker) included in the Creativity & Storytelling 'Zine, Sunday, February 12, 2017 edition is just the right medicine:

"Kurosawa was determined to become a better screenwriter and set about writing one page a day, despite how busy he was as an AD, 'There was nothing I could do about the nights I had to work till dawn, but when I had time to sleep, even after crawling into bed I would turn out two or three pages.' Writing didn’t come easy, but over time the daily struggle became a habit and Kurosawa found that like most creative endeavors, just showing up was the key. 'At some point in the writing of every script I feel like giving the whole thing up. From my many experiences of writing screenplays however, I have learned something: If I hold fast in the face of this blankness and despair, adopting the tactic of Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen sect, who glared at the wall that stood in his way until his legs became useless, a path will open up.'"

Column Inspiration:

SOMETIMES I THINK THAT WE HUMANS SUFFER FROM CHRONIC FORGETFULNESS: we work hard on something, complete it, and then lose our confidence in what we've learned and know: we start from the beginning again--over and over--in uncertainty (a creative-specific conflict forgetting like in the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind--though they choose to forget!). We stick to our endeavors, come through again, and hope we will remember in the future.

THE HEALING ARTIST STUDIO PROJECT BLOG, THE CREATIVITY & STORYTELLING 'ZINE, and all the writing, content curating, posting and tweeting I do is my way of remembering, of continuing the open-mindedness, trust, and collaboration I learned as a high school student at The Team School, and as a graduate student at ITP.

WE ARE NOT IN A PHYSICAL CLASS TOGETHER, AND MAY NEVER MEET, but I choose to believe that I am investing in our creative and business problem-solving success to benefit our world through the practical and miraculous solution we are every day.

Creator's Corner: Here Comes Play-Doh

NOTE: Creator's Corner is now being published on Wordpress, so you can access and read all of the columns (past and future) easily at one location. Click Here.

Recently, I learned that Play-Doh was created as the result of a fortunate accident. It was invented in the 1930s by Noah McVicker, who mixed together flour, water, salt, boric acid and mineral oil, and marketed the concoction through his family's soap company as wallpaper cleaner. Chances are that Noah never dreamed that his invention would be used as a creative tool by children (of all ages) and become induced into the National Toy Hall of Fame in 1998!

Use Play-Doh as visual content to inform, educate, inspire, attract, promote, aesthetic (purely as art for arts sake ), or for fun and play to help achieve your goal or purpose. Bring out the child within and play with Play-Doh (or any other modeling resource) to discover it's creative possibilities as part of content, content strategy or content marketing.

Brent says to plan to make mistakes. My mentor, Red Burns (who was the creator and chair of the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University from 1982-2010), taught me that there are no mistakes--there are only learning opportunities and ways to exploit them as potential solutions to creative problems. We students became masters at creating, and playing with interactive applications and technologies as tools to serve needs, wants, requirements, desires and dreams. We imagined so many possibilities and made many of them realities that are being used in the world today.

Certainly it's easy to see that Play-Doh can be used as content to attract and communicate with children in your particular business, project or service, but what about with adults? Many of us are familiar with Play-Doh because we played with it ourselves, or purchased it for our kids.

We have both creative and emotional attachments (conscious or subconscious) to it. It can be used as content for a book cover, album cover; lyrics in a song, or other audio format; magazine, advertisement, presentation, short film, trailer, promotional video, card decks, or in some other content capacity.

We can use a modeling resource to create visual forms of any kind (Rainbow Ideas used birds), including typography, abstract forms, and sigil symbols. The Play-Doh color palette is vivid and bright, so human figures can be sculpted or molded that helps to get a message across without creating conflict around the cultural or diversity challenges many of us face in our relationships today (unless our content is intended to create conflict for a useful purpose). Make my face magenta please.

Play-Doh. Imagine the creative possibilities.

The ancients believed that astronomical phenomena were connected to terrestrial events. ~ from "Star of Bethlehem", Wikipedia

Use sigils as visual content to inform, educate, inspire, attract, promote, aesthetic (purely as art for arts sake ) for business, a project, service, or personal wellness. There are so many sigil forms to discover.

Sigils are sacred geometry symbol forms that the ancients considered to be the marks of angels, deities, and other powerful entities; they are archetype conduits that merge science, creativity and spirituality. They used specific formulas to create them for specific purposes, and this practice continues today for healing, growth, and change purposes.

Sigils can be created and placed in specific formations on paper, on fabric, in art, in space, in the ground, and placed on the floor for a person to lie within that can serve as a portal, a gateway.

Here's one creative use example: Imagine the possibilities for how these forms can be creatively used as visual content in a video for travel by having a person sit within a formation that transports them to a particular place (in space or time), or in their own mind/consciousness or spirit.

OUR ALPHABET has its roots as energetic communication symbols that can be re-purposed today as sigils in support of creative pursuits. Many fine artists and visual communicators already know the significance of historical studies concerning lettering/typography, as well as healers and shaman who use sigils through study of sacred symbols and how the ancients used them. The creative possibilities for using sigils are only limited to one's imagination and creative intention.

STAR SIGILS (My Personal Calculations & Creations)

Imagine when looking up at the stars shining so bright that they always have a counterpart on earth.

    Book Project Star Sigil
Imagine that every person has a constellation--a sacred geometry symbol that represents them: that people's lives are reflected in a mini-universe of stars that includes, not only their names, but all the people who are in their circle; the names of the places they have been employed, their projects--their past, present and future--all in a dynamic cosmic blueprint.

Imagine that these star sigils tell unique stories of which the content is star light energy in space.

    Name Star Sigil

Imagine the creative solution not being about trying hard, working hard, thinking hard, or struggling but about aligning to or harmonizing with our sacred geometry forms.

Have a seat. Let's take a close look at the cards. I see two creative ideas in your future for you to manifest using the content in this article for your business, project, service, and/or spiritual wellness.

    1) Create a card deck as visual content to inform, educate, inspire, attract, promote, aesthetic (purely as art for arts sake ), or for fun and play to help achieve your goal or purpose. The Lisa Frank Tarot Deck is so eye-catching with it's rainbow color-palette and the use of animals that focus on the child within us. It's also very feminine in tone and energy. Of course, your deck will have it's own special, unique character, attitude, colors and design, responsive to your audience, clients, customers, fans, or personal needs (healing, growth, change).

    2) Use the persona of the Mystic or Visionary as copy and/or visual content to inform, educate, inspire, attract, promote, or otherwise engage people in an interactive or passive format. Are you certain about what you can provide or share? Are you confident in your voice as a leader? Do you have the knowledge, talent, skills, heart, or soul to deliver on your promise or vision? What story can you tell about the future behavior, attitudes, feelings, status, environment, concerns, etc. of your audience, clients, customers, fans through the solutions you have to offer through what you create, produce or provide?

What's Up, Twelve?: Numerology & the Number 12 (3) by Stefanie Campione (Guest Blogger)

The Healing Artist Studio Project welcomes guest blogger, Stefanie Campione of Stefanina's Numerology! Stefanina describes what she offers as "Spirit Centered Readings, Coaching and Consulting". The majority of her clients are women in transition, who need career and relationship answers and guidance.

In October, I was happy to introduce her book, The Power of Numerology: A Guidebook To Discover the Unknown You, that debuted on Amazon.com in the Top Ten of New Book Releases. The post includes an interview conducted on The Healing Artist Studio Project's radio channel. The women who received readings on the radio described her work as "Accurate" . . . "Amazing!" . . . . "I'm Speechless" . . . so without further ado, here's Stefanina's contribution to the question for November: What's Up, Twelve? (view the original post that led to exploring 12, that includes the interview with her in action!).

    What's Up, Twelve? Numerology & the Number 12 (3)
    by Stefanie Campione, Stefanina's Numerology

One Plus Two Equals Three (1+2=3)
Can You Say Intuitive to the Third Power?
In numerology the 12 takes on three (3) energies: One (1) energy is about being the leader, boss, idea person, innovator and a little nasty. It's very intuitive. Two (2) energy is the power behind the power, the brains, the heart, kind and patient, but can be a (luna)tic at times. Also, it is an intuitive number. Three (3) energy is the lover, communicator, the one who doesn’t like to plan, lives for today, and enjoys the finer things in life. The three (3) energy can be very cranky at times and everyone around them will feel it. It joins one (1) and two (2) as an intuitive number. The number 12/3 holds the energy of self love.

One, Two, Three, Baby You and Me
The number one (1) is male dominant. The number two (2) is female dominant. The number three (3) is created when the one (1) and the two (2) are joined together. Therefore, the two (2, coupling) and three (3, creating) are love numbers.

Twelve is a Number of Completion and Spirituality
There is one common factor to the number 12 whether it is associated with chakras, the calendar, biblical, or numerology; this number is the number of completion. If you see the number 12 all around you, the universe is showing you it’s time to turn over a new leaf by wrapping it up, it’s done, it’s over, get a move on.

People with a 12 birth day, or destiny, or personality or attitude are very spiritual and have the ability to co-create; because you enjoy being the leader as well as working with a team. If you are born on the 12th day, you are usually the center of attention, are adaptable, energetic and professional in your work. You are perceptive when it comes to dealing with other people; you can see right through them.

Twelve (12) people are family conscious and are open and friendly, wearing your heart on your sleeve.  At times you can be very shy. Number 12 represents education on all levels, requiring the submission of the will as well as the sacrifice necessary to achieve knowledge and wisdom for your Spirit and Intellect.

Put it all together and you are someone who is meant to stand out, stand up and be noticed, be your own boss, lead by example, learn to ask for help, and have no problem saying what is on your mind. You need to use your heart in all you do and limit the time you stay in you head.  Love the work you do to the point where the money feels like it’s a reward for doing what you truly love.

Depending on the placement of 12 in your chart, you can be very faithful, loyal and honest.

In closing, I would like to say that the number 12 is a powerful, loving, spiritual, intuitive number.

If you have calculated your numerology numbers and discovered you have a 12/3 in your core numbers or attitude, the information provided in this article is a general interpretation and should not take the place of a professional numerology reading.  It is however a good place to begin and discover the unknown you…

    ************

So now, after reading this post, I see the number 12 as sealing the deal. Yeah, completing the form, a powerful spiritual form with a lot of clout whether it is 12 Disciples, 12 Astrology Signs, 12 Chumpi stones, 12 Chakras, 12 Steps, 12 Traditions, 12 Ideals, 12 Months, Angel Number 12, or 12 (fill in the blank).

Become informed and grow with Stefanina by gifting yourself what she offers via her web site and by purchasing her new book, The Power of Numerology: A Guidebook To Discover the Unknown You (Five Star Rating). The holidays are just around the corner. Blessings and Namaste.

    Thank you, Stefanina!

Archangel Sachiel and Archangel Zadkiel Get Mixed Up! | And so it is . . .

Archangel Sachiel. Some of the energies that are said to be associated with this archangel are: Power, legal and commercial transactions, financial speculation, acquisition of wealth, marriage, education, religion, protect travelers, foster friendships, preserve health, banish anxiety, establish sympathy, business, fame, gambling, greed, growth, expansion, honor, leadership, money, parties, politics, responsibility, royalty, success, and visions. Love the color energies of purple, violet and gold. For some reason, I always feel this angel as feminine. I was mixing them up. Image Credit: http://cresentmoon2007.hubpages.com

Blessings and gratitude to the Queen of Angels in my life, and to my mother, Sarah, who loved her so dearly. Harmony, serenity, joy, and peace be with you.

Archangel Zadkiel as the DIVINE COMFORTER bestows beneficent wisdom upon us, allowing clear vision to take place over the obstacles that perpetuate the self-limiting beliefs we may hold – the impediments that stop us from enjoying spiritual abundance. This exquisite Archangel, who governs the Tenth Chakra, and who arises from Uranus, teaches us to trust in God’s utter benevolence and guidance – to yield and let God comfort us.

Zadkiel not only shows us what needs to be brought forth into the light to be healed, but also clarifies how to intuitively heal it, which brings gratitude and security. Image Credit. theangelsofatlantis.com
